About Bet Shira's Early Childhood Center

Our Mission

The mission of Bet Shira Early Childhood Center is to provide a safe, nurturing, developmentally appropriate environment which facilitates the growth and development of our young children. We enable our students to become confident, self-directed, lifelong learners while meeting their individual social, emotional, creative, cognitive, physical and spiritual needs.

Our Vision

At Bet Shira Early Childhood Center . . . . .
• We believe that a safe and nurturing environment is paramount to providing an inviting, supportive and challenging learning atmosphere for children.

• We believe that within a Jewish context of developmentally appropriate experiences, it is imperative to highlight cooperative play, communication, creative expression, and the building of self esteem.
• We believe that a rich and varied program facilitates the development of language, literacy, social skills, processing skills, motor skills and religious values.  Our teachers and specialists use various media, manipulative and tools to provide an enriching and engaging experience that encourages imagination, creativity and curiosity.
• We rejoice in each child's individuality. Our curriculum provides for a wide range of learning rates and styles to meet each child’s needs.
• We value discovery through play.  Our children are actively engaged in the learning process. Because children's natural curiosity is respected, they feel safe to ask questions, take risks, and try new skills.  Even the sophisticated questions that children ask about God and the universe are embraced with delight.  We are proud to address the issues of "becoming a good person," "doing the right thing,” taking care of each other and the world around us.
• We believe that Jewish values play an important role in our Early Childhood Center and Kindergarten. The children learn basic blessings and prayers in Hebrew, and to practice tzedakah and to do other mitzvot. Our school is part of Bet Shira Congregation.  Our students enjoy the benefits of being part of a synagogue family including Shabbat and other holiday observances and programs.
• We believe that diversity broadens a child’s world.  The school welcomes all students and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, differing abilities, nationality, faith and ethnic origin, gender or creed or disability in the administration of any policies or programs.
