Rabbi Gad Romang

 

Rabbi Romang received his Rabbinic Ordination from Seminario Rabinico Latinoamericano Abraham Joshua Heschel Rabbinical School in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He received his M.A. in Biblical Studies and his honorary doctorate of Divinity from Jewish Theological Seminary of America (JTS) in New York. Born in Argentina, Rabbi Romang grew up in Israel and is impressively multilingual. During his distinguished career Rabbi Romang has held positions as Senior Rabbi in both Chile and in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He has also been the director of Rabbinical Schools and Hebrew Institutes in Chile, Argentina, and in the United States as Director of Jewish Studies at American Hebrew Academy. Rabbi Romang has also been a   university lecturer in Biblical Exegesis and Talmudic Studies. His CV details the many innovative programs he has designed and sustained for children, for young adults, and for older Jewish adults. Rabbi Romang is a member of the Rabbinic Assembly and was the Senior Rabbi at Congregation B’nai Israel in St. Catherine’s, Niagara Region, Ontario, Canada. Rabbi Romang is also a Hazaan.

Rabbi Auerbach was the founding rabbi of Bet Shira Congregation serving from 1985 to 2005. He served as Rabbi Emeritus from 2005 until his passing in September 2016. We are grateful to all he offered our congregation. May his memory always be for blessing.
